A Clinical Observation on the Pediatric Urological Disease

Abstract
A clinical observation was made on the pediatric patients who had been admitted to the Department of Urology, National Medical Center, from January 1, 1971 to May 31, 1977. The results were as follows:
1) Pediatric patients were 103 of 1055 total urologic patients giving a ratio of 9.8%, it revealed the tendency that the pediatric patients had been increasing yearly since 1971.

2) The preschool children (1 to 6 years of age) were most frequently seen and giving a rate of 38.8% of the pediatric patients. The preparation of male to female pediatric patients was 9:1.

3) 10 of 98 male patients and 7 of 10 female patients were transferred from the pediatric department. 4) The most common involved organ was in testis giving a rate of 38.8%, urethral disease was 28.2%, renal disease 18.5%, penis 3.9% etc.

5) The congenital anomaly was 55(53.4%) of 103 total patients. The hypospadia was 24 cases,

cryptorchism 16 cases, congenital hydronephrosis 4 cases, phimosis 4 cases, ectopic testis 3 cases, posterior urethral valve 1 cases. The most common disease except the congenital anomaly was tumor in 12 cases, injury in 9 cases, hydrocele in 8 cases, tuberculosis is 4 cases.

6) Of 103 cases, 100 operations were done. The most common operation was orchiopexy in 19 cases, urethroplasty was perform in 14 cases, chordeectomy in 14 cases, nephrectomy in 14 cases. hydrocelectomy in 11 cases, lithotomy in 8 cases, orchiectomy in a cases, circumcision in 4 cases etc.
